CONFIDENT SWIMMERS START AT USA SWIM ACADEMY
After teaching for over seven years in this facility, and living here for twenty plus years, we know and love our active and vibrant Northern Colorado families and athletes. Achieving the best in every endeavor is what makes this area special. We provide the perfect facility to bring that drive and enthusiasm to aquatics. USA Swim Academy offers the ultimate way to learn to swim or reach your personal best as a competitive swimmer or triathlete. Our small, warm water pools coupled with our use of technology makes USA Swim Academy the best place to learn, no matter your goals. Kids become safer, triathletes will compete smarter, and competitive swimmers drop time faster in our state-of-the-art facility that caters to all learning styles.
We offer a technique-oriented facility and swimming lessons for children and adults learning to swim, and competitive youth swimmers, master swimmers and triathletes who want to shave time, improve their stroke propulsion and swim more efficiently. Every one of the swimmers in our pools can see their stroke from above and below water, thus achieving big results quickly. When you can see your stroke better, you improve faster.
YOUTH LESSONS
We teach kids balance and precision so they are water safe, faster.
USA Swim Academy is a highly-successful and reliable way for your child to learn to swim correctly, safely and quickly. Due to our warm water tanks and personalized lessons, we are often the place that “works” when other lessons have not. We’ve been teaching at our present location in Fort Collins for over seven years and know how to make swimming fun while teaching balance, performance and safety.
We believe in the importance of learning confidence in the water
Four indoor, warm water pools help children quickly learn confidence in the water. Our private lessons and confident instructors lead even the most distracted kids into a lifelong love of aquatics. Our goal is to keep your child focused throughout the lesson and instill a love of the water and joy for swimming while teaching great stroke technique.
Kids learn from seeing
All of our swim tanks use instant video feedback on monitors within the pool and lobby areas. Kids and parents can watch progress immediately. Our pools also use mirrors on the bottom of the pool to help instructors and kids view their stroke technique underwater. Kids love to watch themselves swim, blow bubbles, and zoom down our river. Our instructors demonstrate correct technique and enable kids to immediately apply that skill giving them confidence and balance in the water quickly. Our video analysis is a way most elite swimmers train and improve their technique. This technology is employed at USA Swim Academy to enable kids to view their swimming progress, making them learn proper bubble blowing, floating, balance, and propulsion quickly and safely.
Parents enjoy watching as well
Parents enjoy watching their child’s progress via the video displays in the lobby as well as through viewing directly into the pool area through our numerous windows. Our instructors are always willing to share lesson skills and encourage parents to reinforce those skills at their neighborhood pools whenever possible.
Safe, balanced, and precision strokes begin at USA Swim Academy
Helping swimmers become safe in the water is just the beginning. The stroke technique and progression taught in our lessons prepare kids to join their local swim team and to make swimming a sport they can enjoy the rest of their lives whether for competition or recreation.
PRIVATE LESSONS
At USA Swim Academy we offer private, and semi-private lessons for children ages 3 and above. The private and semi-private swimming lessons provide a more structured one-on-one or two-on-one learning environment. Semi-private lessons are for two children from the same family. These even smaller classes are perfect for siblings with similar swimming skills, children with physical or social disabilities, or those ready to progress through our skill levels at an accelerated rate. Private and semi-private lessons utilize the pool mirrors, video, river, and swim aides. Our instructors will tailor the skills taught at each lesson to the physical, emotional, and/or social needs of each child.
SKILLS TAUGHT
USA Swim Academy teaches swimming with competitive strokes in mind. This means that we focus on teaching water safety while focusing on the four official competitive strokes: backstroke, freestyle, butterfly, and breaststroke. We want all our swimmers to know how to swim each of these competitive strokes competently so they may join a local swim team, compete in triathlons, or use swimming for lifelong fitness.
SCHEDULING
At USA Swim Academy we always have a rolling start date, meaning you can start your swimmer at any point. We schedule all 20 and 30 minute private lessons in monthly increments with a consistent day and time. Because our lessons are in such high demand, we recommend signing up one or two weeks before you want to begin. That way, we can find the private lesson length and time to fit your child and schedule. The monthly cost of classes is charged automatically at the beginning of the month and include 4 scheduled private lessons each month. This reserves your child’s spot in the lesson time until you notify us otherwise.
Our 20-minute lessons cost $145 for 4 lessons each month.
Our 30-minute lessons cost $220 for 4 private or semi-private (2 kids from each family) each month.
CURRICULUM & CLASS LEVELS
We’ve developed our curriculum based on feedback from world class swimmers including Olympians as well as instructors trained in child development and teaching techniques. We also stay up-to-date with the latest in competitive stroke analysis and performance in order to provide the best in swimming technique from your child’s first swim strokes. Training correctly from the very start is the best way to help young athletes make the most of their God-given abilities and talents.
Swimming is the only sport that can not only save your life but is the sport you can do for life. We want our swimmers to become lifelong advocates of swimming and to develop confidence in the water that will translate to confidence in every aspect of their lives. Like a garden, we help plant the seeds, water, and tend the soil, desiring a wonderful harvest of productive, happy, and successful students.
Class Levels are used to evaluate the skill level of each swimmer but can be taught at any private lesson time. Therefore, if a swimmer was in our Class Level 3 group lessons previously, they will be taught at Level 3 in their new private classes until they move up to the next Level. We will be able to move each child to their next level without interrupting their private lesson schedule.
We are currently only offering the Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3-4 group classes on weekend mornings, Tuesday mornings, weekday afternoons between 4:30-6 pm. These are limited to ages 4-7 years. Younger, older, and different level swimmers will need to sign up for our 20 and 30 minute private lesson plans.
Our Skill Level Descriptions
LEVEL 1 – Balance, Bubbles, Big Arms
This level is for kids 3 years and older who are learning the basics of the front float, back float, and nose bubbles. Swimmers in this level will learn proper kicking techniques, front and back floating, big arm strokes for freestyle, and be comfortable gliding down the river assisted.
LEVEL 2 – Propulsion, Front and Back Long Axis
Swimmers in this level will begin learning the full backstroke incorporating both the arms and legs together. Freestyle progression will include learning to swim 6 strokes with proper kick and big arms.
LEVEL 3 – Long Axis Proficiency, Side Breathing, Backstroke Tempo
Swimmers who are ready to learn side breathing for freestyle are in this level. This level focuses on proper side breathing techniques and learning proper tempo and endurance for backstroke.
LEVEL 4 – Introduction to Short Axis
While increasing backstroke and freestyle endurance, this level will add dolphin kick and breaststroke kick. The focus of Level 4 will be to improve propulsion and power for the long axis strokes and to introduce the short axis strokes.
LEVEL 5 – Propulsion and Power; Butterfly and Breaststroke
Swimmers continue developing freestyle and backstroke technique and endurance, and will learn the complete breaststroke and butterfly strokes.
ADVANCED – Technique Refinement & Proficiency
Swimmers focus on refining advanced techniques for all four strokes. Students at this level will be encouraged to join a local swim team in order to develop endurance in their four strokes. Video analysis may be employed as needed.
SUMMER miniCAMPS
USA Swim Academy are four consecutive days of swim lessons designed to function both as an introduction to USA Swim Academy and our specialized swimming progression, and as a way for beginner swimmers to continue building their swimming technique. We offer this program primarily during the summer months. It is a great jump start, or four-day camp for beginner swimmers.
These will be 20 minute private lessons offered as 4 classes in one week, Monday through Thursday. MiniCamps will cost the same $145 for 4 lessons as our once-per-week 20 Minute private lessons.
TEAM NIGHTS
USA Swim Academy loves working with local high school, summer league and club teams. We use Team Nights to provide a great team building and technique-focused evening for your team. Each swimmer is video taped for 20 minutes in the water focusing on one or two of their best strokes. While not in one of our tanks getting stroke analysis, the rest of the team can be learning proper technique on our swim bench or working through an aquatics-oriented dryland workout in our Performance Academy shared facility.
SPECIAL NEEDS
USA Swim Academy has developed two unique programs specifically tailored to teaching clients with special needs. Our instructors go through specific USA Swim Academy training for teaching clients with special needs how to swim or to aid them in their therapy. Let us know your child’s needs when registering for a 20 minute private lesson plan.
The Learn-to-Swim program is for individuals with the goal of pool safety and learning the strokes.
OUR PODIUM CLUB
Just like Olympic athletes strive to earn a trip to the podium, USA Swim Academy provides a path for our athletes to earn their own Bronze, Silver and Gold Podium Club membership. We strive to have every swimmer learn to swim all four competitive strokes, Backstroke, Freestyle, Butterfly, and Breaststroke. As they learn the stroke and develop stamina, we will encourage them to swim 25 strokes, 50 strokes, and 100 strokes.
Each Bronze, Silver, and Gold podium level will have a specific achievement assigned to it. As swimmers progress through our levels, they can earn membership to the Podium Club in different strokes.
Each level offers 4 different skill opportunities. Earn one or all!
Survival Swim Program
Kids will learn to relax, float and breathe for any period of time regardless of the water’s depth. Our instruction empowers kids to not only be comfortable in the water but to float and survive.
About the Program
Our certified Infant Aquatics Survival specialist will be teaching your babies from 6 months to one year old to float and breathe, regardless of the water’s depth, for an indefinite period of time until help arrives.
Ages 1 yr. – 3 years will be learning the swim-float-swim sequence and will learn to swim short distances with their face fully submerged, roll to their back to float and rest while catching their breath and then flip back over and swim to safety … even while fully clothed. This swim-float-swim method will serve as the foundation for future stroke development and advancement into the next USA Swim Academy class level.
Current Instructor, Alyson Millner
We have a certified Infant Self Rescue (ISR) Instructor, Alyson Millner, who is providing ISR instruction for babies in our facility weekday mornings. These lessons consist of an intensive 6-8 week program of 10 minute lessons Monday through Friday mornings.
Please contact Alyson Millner directly to obtain more information and to book lessons in this program.

“Jenny has been working with my daughter for just four days now and she is already holding her breath and lays on her back comfortably as Jenny pulls her through the water. I am more than happy with our experience so far! Jenny is soooo loving with my daughter and makes her feel so taken care of as if she has known us for a long time! She even checks in on us each night to see how we are doing. We love Jenny already!” – Mckenna
“We are one week into our survival swim classes with my 1.5 and 3.5 year old boys. The teacher, Jenny, is great. She has been doing lessons for a long time and it shows. She really understands the boys’ different personalities and uses different approaches, but ultimately gets them to learn and do the same technique. I’m impressed with what they have learned and are willing to do in the water after only four classes.” – Julie
“Jenny always greets us with a huge smile. She makes Jaxon feel safe and secure in the water and makes sure swimming remains fun. Jaxon has loved it so far and I am excited to see what else he can accomplish!” – Kim
ADULT LEARN TO SWIM
At USA Swim Academy, learn-to-swim is for adults, too.
USA Swim Academy provides a wonderful opportunity for adults to learn to swim as well as kids. We teach adults in a private lesson setting utilizing our instant video feedback technology and mirrors on the bottom and above the pool. Our adult learn to swim lessons are designed specifically for the needs of each client. Whether you are getting over a fear of the water or simply want to improve basic strokes for fitness, our expert instructors and technology-driven facility can help. Adult swimmers learn quickly and leave with a toolbox of ideas and techniques to work with at their neighborhood pool.
Each adult beginner swimmer is unique.
We customize every adult learn to swim lesson for the unique goals and abilities of the client. Whether you are learning to float for the first time, or need help perfecting a high elbow freestyle catch, we will make the most of your private lesson thirty minutes.
Seeing is better.
Our mirrors and video playback system make it possible to see yourself swimming immediately. Watching the skill from the instructor, trying out the skill yourself, then viewing yourself working the skill are fast and fun ways to improve quickly and achieve success.
Warm pools and quiet atmosphere
Learning to swim in a crowded community pool filled with other swimmers and loads of kids can be intimidating. We offer our adult learn to swim lessons during our non-group lesson times, providing a quiet and more private environment. No distractions enables you to concentrate on learning the skills needed to become a life-long swimmer.
Developing Life-long swimmers is one of our goals at USA Swim Academy.
We want everyone to experience the joy and confidence of swimming and to become life-long swimmers.
PRIVATE AND SEMI PRIVATE LESSONS
We offer private and semi private lessons for adults at USA Swim Academy. Most of our adult learn to swim clients desire a private 30 minute lesson but we can split that lesson between two adults who want to learn together. Adult lessons are usually scheduled weekdays around noon-1:30 pm while our pools are in between young kid lessons. Send us an email to schedule your first lesson. contact@usaswimacademy.com.
COMPETITIVE LESSONS AT USA Swim Academy
Improve your strokes faster with video analysis.
Every second counts in swimming whether you are a young competitive swimmer, or an elite / national level athlete. Analyzing your strokes from multiple above and below water positions can make a world of difference helping you swim efficiently and faster, quickly. Our state-of-the-art facility is designed to help you eliminate all unnecessary drag, improve your technique, and get you to the next level and your next goal faster.
Learn to swim smart, not just harder
Swimmers get plenty of laps in a regular pool during workouts. More yardage doesn’t necessarily translate to faster times. You need to swim smart during those hard training practices and USA Swim Academy can help you get there. Learn all the latest tips and techniques to teach your body to swim efficiently. Our video analysis sessions will help you perfect your technique, build on your unique capabilities, and improve your balance, propulsion, and speed in the water.
Individualized Lessons
Our small, warm water tanks are perfect for focusing on the little technique changes that will dramatically improve your strokes. Individualized take home videos will provide you with lessons to study and implement at your regular workouts.
PRIVATE COMPETITIVE LESSONS
At your USA Swim Academy Competitive session, our elite instructors will discuss your swimming history and goals. We will then have you swim in one of our warm water tanks against a low current. As you swim up the river, the instructor will be watching and video taping your strokes and will provide you with immediate stroke analysis. We utilize a vast swimming video library of elite swimmers and will share these videos with you in order to highlight a particular stroke drill or technique we want you to master. At the end of the session, we can provide you with a video to take home that includes clips from the session and notes about areas to improve.
STARTS AND TURNS CLINICS
USA Swim Academy coaches know the importance of great starts and turns. We encourage our clients to take part in one of our stroke and turn clinics to focus in depth on these critical aspects of the sport. Due to the size of our tanks, we host these stroke and turn clinics at local pools a few times per year. Let your instructor know if you’re interested in attending our next camp and we will be certain to get you on the email list as information is sent.
TEAM NIGHTS
Team nights provide each swimmer with 20 minutes of instruction and video analysis of the stroke of their choice. USA Swim Academy instructors facilitate each video lesson but we encourage local coaches to actively participate. While not in the water, other team members can work through stations on our swim bench or in our Performance Academy concentrating on dryland aquatic exercises. Contact USA Swim Academy if you want to set up a Team Night for your team. They’re perfect for high school, summer league, and club programs.
